A good Pinot Noir is the most seductive wine on earth.The essence of a great Pinot Noir is purity of fruit with structure and balance. This 2008 Pinot Noir from Paul Cluver has all of this in spades with finesse, elegance and charm to be truly savoured with good food and good company.

Black Rock is a multivarietal blend of Shiraz, Carignan,Grenache, Mourvedre and Viognier grown in ideal conditions of the slopes of the Perdeberg mountain in Swartland. With mostly bush vines, no irrigation and very closely monitored viticulture, the grapes are picked at full physiological ripeness before fermenting using natural yeasts and carefuly raised in oak barrels. The result is a stunning wine with layers of flavour and character. On the nose it is savoury with smoky bacon and chocolate. The palate is rich, full and vibrant with the same savoury notes, dark fruit, pepper and spice This is new to our portfolio and I am thrilled with this find. A real conversation stopper as we discovered with friends on our first tasting in a Cape Town steakhouse! 14.5%

Gyles Webbs' yin to the his Cabernet's yang. Gutsy, firm with plush berry bouquet, fleshy warm palate, savoury secrets, perfumed vanilla (from American oak) and big ripe tannins leading to a long balanced finish.

The blend for this Bordeaux style wine varies with the vintage. This one is Cabernet Sauvignon based with Cab Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot & Malbec and is made in a lighter style than the classic Christine. It is still a big wine.

Cape fixture as one of its best classically blended Bordeaux style blends. This vintage consists of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (40/36/20) and a dollop of Malbec. A luxuriously silky and exquisitely balanced wine. Already enjoying a long and happy future.

Tiny yields from highly selected vineyard sites followed by destemming and crushing by hand followed by spontaneous natural yeast fermentation and eventual hand bottling in Jan 2009 created just 720 cases of this very special wine. Tight, restrained with complex berries, black olives, pencil shavings. A big dark, brooding wine that should be decanted and enjoyed with beef or venison. Will evolve for years. A special selection of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah & Cabernet Franc grown at an elevation of 393m goes into this wine which is only made in the best vintages. Intense blackberry & fruit cake aromas and flavours marry with the dense tannins with a rich supple and complex mouthfeel. Very long. Drinking well now but will continue to evolve for several years. A warm rich blend of Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot making for a really yummy juicy wine with Christmas spice flavours and soft tannins.

A new & most interesting red blend from Thelema first created from the 2005 harvest. What is particularly interesting is that the blend varies with the vintage. The 2007 is Shiraz dominated with 21% Merlot. The lovely savoury notes, combined with ripe red fruit and spice represent a delightful mingling of the two varietals.  Drinking beautifully now and so moreish! Great value and a real steal for a Thelema red. 14.5% This vintage sold incredibly well almost gone.
