A good Pinot Noir is the most seductive wine on earth.The essence of a great Pinot Noir is purity of fruit with structure and balance. This 2008 Pinot Noir from Paul Cluver has all of this in spades with finesse, elegance and charm to be truly savoured with good food and good company.

A great example of a cool climate sauvignon with aromas of green pepper, figs and gooseberry. with a deep mineral core and a lively palate with refreshing acidity. The palate is very pure and bursting with flavour with a deep mineral and a stylish richness. Lovely to drink alone or with a range of fish or chicken dishes.

Black Rock is a multivarietal blend of Shiraz, Carignan,Grenache, Mourvedre and Viognier grown in ideal conditions of the slopes of the Perdeberg mountain in Swartland. With mostly bush vines, no irrigation and very closely monitored viticulture, the grapes are picked at full physiological ripeness before fermenting using natural yeasts and carefuly raised in oak barrels. The result is a stunning wine with layers of flavour and character. On the nose it is savoury with smoky bacon and chocolate. The palate is rich, full and vibrant with the same savoury notes, dark fruit, pepper and spice This is new to our portfolio and I am thrilled with this find. A real conversation stopper as we discovered with friends on our first tasting in a Cape Town steakhouse! 14.5%

What a versatile wine! Fresh, crisp, floral tones with a lean elegant mouthfeel and a mineral backbone. Great with spicy foods, seafood, sushi, even beef carpaccio. Drinking beautifully now but will age for at least 5-7 years.

A very tiny production of a special wine -only 85 cases this year. Grapes are picked at optimal ripeness and spread out on straw mats to dry for 3 weeks before a 22 month fermentation in small oak barrels. Result is mesmerisingly beautiful with a wide range of aromas and flavours, marzipan, honey, dried apricot. While sweet, it is not cloying with enough acidity and tannins for freshness. Even Rita Trafford’s artwork on the label is a collectors item!

The name of this vin doux natural from the muscat refers to the year of plantation of the vineyard The 1769, previously produced without a name in very small quantities, was reintroduced in 2007 after Lars Maack tasted an unearthed bottle that was almost 200 years and was still perfect. He even used the same bottle shape as the original. This refined and amazingly elegant vintage is a perfect dessert wine.

International cult wine of limited availability. Sumptiously delicious modern Cape cabernet. Squid-inky colour, intense perfumed bramble nose, classic blackberry fruit with rich, deep-roasted coffee, chocolate and cedar, velvety mouthfeel and wonderful length. Top of the class. 5 stars in 2010 Platter Guide and little wonder. As in all the Cluver wines, the flavours are really pure and fresh with cool climate lemon and lime elegantly brushed with nuts and cream from the seemless oak integration. Finish goes on and on. Very Burgundian. The 2009 has won the Old Mutual Trophy for best white wine in SA & more recently best wine wine in Southern hemisphere. Read more
