| De Trafford Straw Wine 375ml 2009 |
Always very small production of this special wine - 285 x 12 x 375mls this year. Grapes are picked at optimal ripeness and spread out on straw mats to dry for 3 weeks before a 22 month fermentation in small oak barrels. Result is mesmerisingly beautiful with a wide range of aromas and flavours, marzipan, honey, dried apricot. While sweet, it is not cloying with enough acidity and tannins (yes!) for freshness. Even Rita Trafford’s artwork on the label is a collectors item! |

| Buitenverwachting 1769 (500 ml) 2007 |
The name of this vin doux natural from the muscat refers to the year of plantation of the vineyard The 1769, previously produced without a name in very small quantities, was reintroduced in 2007 after Lars Maack tasted an unearthed bottle that was almost 200 years and was still perfect. He even used the same bottle shape as the original. This refined and amazingly elegant vintage is a perfect dessert wine. |
